CELLULOID CRAP

Ever wondered why Karan Johar remains where he used to be some 3-4 years back? Simple. He manages to make stupid films like Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. He still thinks designer movies are the in thing. Dumb, right? The greatest folly you can commit in Bollywood, in fact.

Who is to blame? The media, who else? Blame the so-called cinema experts who went rave, calling Johar's trash a bold movie. Bold, huh! Im no connoisseur of cinema, but I know cinema is'nt what Johar means. Having Shah Rukh and a good looking actress alongside him, jumping on to a plane headed for some exotic locale overseas, making the lady do her house cleaning and laundry while wearing designer outfits, making her weep or wail at the drop of a hat, making SRK mouth I LOVE YOU whenever possible, making the entire cast dance and sing, preferably in discos, trains and railway stations and then resting assured that the cinema buff gets fooled after around four hours of torture. Karan Johar's definition of cinema goes thus. He convinces me that he is a kid who hasn't learnt even the basics, but is hell bent on churning out stupid stuff which he wants the world to call "Meaningful, Bold, Life-like cinema. Bullshit!

And, most dishearteningly, the media goes head over heels when a clownish Shah Rukh runs around smiling, stuttering, crying and finally getting hold of Rani as his mate. Never anaged to figure out how this gentleman became a star (Remember Devdas - God I would have killed myself for watching the movies but for my love for life). Same with Preity Zinta. Will someone ask her to stop being so loud - on reel and in real life.

By the way, for heaven's sake, will someone tell me what was wrong between Rhea and Dev and Rishi and Maya in KANK? If Johar was convinced after seeing his opus that family issues persisted between these couples leading to fights, will some one tell him that the audience too need to be convinced?

A small request, Mr Johar. For the sake of cinema lovers in the country, for the sake of cinema, please hold yourself back, think at least 4-5 times before churning out stuff like KANK.

And, before signing off, one more query. What was Mr Bachchan senior doing in the film? We all love you, respect you a lot, Mr Bachchan, but plese dont make us stop respecting you and loving you by signing such stupid roles. Please.

I am so glad that I did not go to the multiplex to watch that movie. I saw some part of it when my cousin's friend got the CD. It dragged on and on. I really wondered - in which world these people were living in? If it was a case of bad marriage, haven't they heard about divorce?
But Karan Johar knows that there are enough fools to watch these movies and would believe his justification. Sad but true
